Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our patient hoists and passive lifts.

The right hoist depends on the patient's weight, mobility, the available space, and the type of transfers required. Our team can advise. For compact homecare environments the Oxford Mini 140 or Advance are popular, while the Maxi 180 and Presence are better suited to nursing or acute settings where higher lift ranges or weight capacities are needed.

Both fully lift and transfer a patient who cannot bear their own weight, typically using a sling. The Oxford Classic models (Midi 180, Mini 140, Maxi 180) are everyday mobile hoists, while the Professional passive lifts (Advance and Presence) add features such as powered leg positioning and greater lift range. If a patient can bear some of their own weight, an active stand-aid may be more appropriate. See our stand-aids and slings.

Yes. We provide planned preventative maintenance and statutory LOLER inspections for hoists, slings and other lifting equipment. Visit our Hoist Maintenance and LOLER Inspections pages for details.
